He plays World Music based on Portuguese Folk Music with some influences of jazz, fado and afro music.

Playing with an Electric Ukulele custom made with a clean sound, he plays professionally in RL since 1984 with several Portuguese artists touring all over the World… Toronto, Sydney, Boston, Vancouver, Macau, Goa-India, Maputo-Mozambique..etc etc…

And now to our enjoyment he’s touring our virtual world presenting his work.With more than 5000 listeners in a month and hundreds of followers, he’s an example of sucess in SL and a rising star on our Worlds. 

He’ll be  playing for us again @ Saudade e Fado Island (Cassandra of Azores) friday 5th, about 3SL PM;(23h GMT) not only his SL repertory  of instrumental and unforgetable portuguese folk songs (arranged by him) but also a complete set of new originals songs played  with Electric Ukulele and Backing Tracks (Played by himself) with some programming too.

Is is for this feelings that we keep this little corner of portuguese culture just for you. Tonight we discovered a machinima movie centered on Fado. And on our island in Second Life. Knowing that the author is not portuguese, but dedicated this beautiful movie to all of us, is just wonderful.

This is her words:

“Fado is the famous traditional and very emotional music from Portugal.

I was surprised to find a house of Fado even in Second Life. A beautiful, silent place, providing some information about Fado music and artists (also in english).

Although I don’t speak or understand portuguese, Fado touches me. It’s true: Music is an international language…

This video is an expression of my respect for this music. And for Amalia Rodrigues, the “Queen of Fado”, who has had a great influence on keeping Fado alive and more popular than ever.

Since July, the Fado & Saudade island is owned by a community of SL residents, who joined to promote arts and culture on Second Life.

Trata-se dum grupo de residentes do Second Life que se juntaram com o mesmo propósito: fazer e apoiar projectos de divulgação de arte e cultura em mundos virtuais, com destaque para o Second Life. O projecto inicial é a recém inaugurada ilha do Fado & Saudade (http://fadoesaudade.wordpress.com) que visa promover internacionalmente o estilo de música mais tipicamente português. Pela primeira vez na história do Second Life, sobressai tocda uma ilha dedicada ao FADO.
Um espaço que pretende ser uma homenagem ao FADO e à SAUDADE, eternamente relacionados no imaginário e sentimento português, e cujo grande objectivo é mostrar a todo o mundo o que é ouvir e sentir o Fado. Nas alturas, uma típica casa de fados mostra símbolos e fotos, recriando todo o ambiente envolvente deste estilo musical que apaixona o mundo inteiro.

Este é apenas o primeiro de muitos projectos, individuais ou colectivos, que podem ser apoiados pelo grupo. O objectivo: a promoção da arte e cultura, sobretudo a relacionada com países de língua portuguesa, em todos os mundos virtuais.”

All of us celebrate Bday. Many celebrate Bday and SL Rezzday. But no so many achieved in one year work and presence on SL as one of the owners of Fado e Saudade island.

So, to celebrate his SL Rezzday, tomorrow 27th June we will have a full night of live music for all tastes. Between 1PM (SL time) and 5 PM (SL time) acknowledged SL artists like  

Orangelife Holmer (Bruno Santos) and his acoustic rock covers and originals;

Peltzer Hirano (Rui Gaio) with is best of Incoherent cenario with piano vocals and electropopdance songs

Maximillion Kleene, solo acoustic guitar with vocals covering popular and well-loved songs, old and new, touching on rock, pop, alternative, old country, emo, rock-folk, Canadiana, and hip-hop.

Joaquim Gustav,  and his specialized ”Popular music Interpretation”, guitar oriented tangos and boleros;

Miki Underwood

will be here to help us party. And many more can come too

Couldn’t help expressing here the feelings of some of the friends that shared yesterday night with us.

Reactions not only to the place, but to the music were wonderful. And these words are our biggest support.
